Saraiva increases credibility with customers
Acquisition of 34 servers based on platform Intel XEON Hyper Threading Segment: Retail To take care of its customer well and to offer the best services prove the 88 years of success of the Bookstore and Stationery store Saraiva, today presents in six States of the Country. The action was materialized through the implementation, carried through for InfoSERVER, of the solutions Microsoft Windows 2000 and SQL 2000, supported for the new servers Intel XEON Hyper Threading. The project - that it involved the quotation process, purchase, installation and configuration of 34 equipments - started in October of 2002 and it finished in February of this year. This investment was made to compose the park of Internet and also to take care of the internal applications, as also the store, which headquarter is responsible for the processing of the information of centered form. The internal operations of the site, database and Web server had been also migrated. “Before we promote the migration, the platform already was Intel based on machines of diverse manufacturers and now we leave for the standardization with an only supplier for operations in the Internet”, said Rodrigo Varella, infrastructure manager of the net of Bookstores and Pontocom. Performance In the 2002 end, InfoSERVER integrator, that is e-Business Solution Provider (e-BSP) Intel and Microsoft Gold Partner, initiated a partnership with Intel to study to know which the ideal hardware for the operation. According to Claude Camillo, director of Technology of Saraiva, the solution with the support of 34 servers Intel Xeon DP with dual HyperThreading processed with 2,4 GHZ, increased the performance in the operations of Internet, as well as its scalability. “After migration processes, the servers had started to recognize four processors to work being that only two processors are installed. This fact approximately generated a profit of 50% in performance”, affirms Denise Zanão Zei, InfoSERVER’s manager business responsible for Saraiva’s account.
