Increase of performance using Intel solution

Company of the financial sector, in function of its operational demand needed to increase the performance of the SQL Server. The service had a processing intense batch, what it became the slow daily process. InfoSERVER considered to the company the accomplishment of a test with the SQL 64 BITS, with the use of the processor Itanium II, of the Intel.

The objective was to reduce of 30% 60% the time expense to process the information. Moreover, the platform would increase the possibility of analysis of the information of the SQL database. The project started in October of 2002 and in December of the same year the goal was reached, because this percentage was reached during the phase of tests.

One team formed by professionals of InfoSERVER and customer had worked in the project that involved the update of software and the system, during 45 days. Before the time of processing of one of the systems batch delayed 2 hours, currently the same work is done in 45 minutes.

The server Itanium II is in final phase of acquisition soon is set free the operational system Windows Server 2003 64 bits and the SQL Server 2000 64 bits.

Before the system runned in the same environment with Intel processor 32 Bits (Pentium III), with Windows 2000 and SQL Server. We tested in an environment Windows 2003, 64 Bits and SQL 2000 with processor 64 Bits. The demand was to transform VAR calculated data (Value at Risk) – information for calculations of risk.
